WowZitat
Resident Evil Origins Raises Bar For RE2 Remake
Recent fans of the Resident Evil series can get a taste of how the game established its roots by digging into the Resident Evil Origins Collection that packs both Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil HD, the former being the prequel to the original when it first came out.
We’re not sure if plenty of games are getting it for the sake of nostalgia or many new fans really want to dive into the origins of the game, but the 2-in-1 package has been selling like hot cakes since its release.
The collection has only been launched for over a week but almost 170,000 units have been sold, most of which to PS4 players. According to VGChartz, the 45 percent of the sales were made in the US, 26 percent in Europe, and 12 percent in Japan.
As a matter of fact, RE Origins Collection is the best-selling game(s) worldwide for January 2016, overtaking Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
Seeing how much favor the original remake and prequel are getting, it won’t be surprising if the total remake of Resident Evil 2, arguably the best title in the entire franchise, enjoys a more explosive success in the market.
Expectations will surely be raised though, since there can be more to anticipate from a complete overhaul instead of merely slapping on a HD varnish.
